Five styles for five moods

Normal, Learning, Concise, Explanatory, Formal. When each one earns its keep.

One Arka can talk in five different voices.

Hit the + button in the chat box and pick Use style. A submenu opens with five options. Pick one, and every response after that adopts the tone — until you change it.

The five preset styles

  • Normal. The default. Friendly, helpful, no special instructions. Use this when you do not know what you want.
  • Learning. A teaching tone. Steps are explained, analogies appear, examples are checked. Use this when you actually want to understand something, not just get the answer.
  • Concise. Short. One to three sentences unless code is required. Skips preamble entirely. Use this when you know what you are asking and just want the answer.
  • Explanatory. Deep reasoning, walked through. Every step has its why spelled out. Use this when you want to learn how Arka got there.
  • Formal. Professional tone. No contractions. Structured sections. Use this when the output is going somewhere that will be read by other people.

The style is saved per user, locally. Switching to a new device resets it to Normal.

Why five and not fifty

Most chat apps let you write a custom system prompt. That is great if you know what a system prompt is, and a UX dead-end if you do not. Five presets cover ninety percent of what people actually want: explain it like a teacher, just give me the answer, walk me through it, make it sound professional. The remaining ten percent of cases — truly custom personalities — live in the Settings → General personal preferences textarea, which feeds into Arka's memory system.
