Vero Messenger

Your conversations stay yours.

A private messenger for chats, calls, groups and more. Every message and photo is encrypted before it leaves your phone — and the keys that unlock them never leave your device.

Encrypted before it leaves

Messages, photos, files and voice notes are encrypted on your phone. Only the devices in the chat can read them.

Private voice & video calls

One-to-one and group calls are end-to-end encrypted too.

Safety numbers

Compare a number in person to make sure nobody swapped a key in the middle.

Phone and desktop, in sync

Link a computer by scanning a QR code. Every device gets its own keys.

Encrypted backups

Unlock your backup with a passphrase, a recovery key — or both. Move chats to a new phone.

Disappearing messages

Set a timer per chat, or a default for every new chat you start.

Groups & communities

Every member’s devices get their own key slot. Communities bring related groups together.

Channels, stories & bots

Broadcast to followers, share stories with chosen people, or build a bot or mini-app.

Vero on a computer: chat list on the left, an end-to-end encrypted conversation on the right

On your computer, too.

Open Vero in any modern browser, scan the QR code with your phone, and the computer gets its own keys and your recent chats. You can see and unlink every device from Settings.

Install it like an app from your browser, or grab the Android app — installed apps check for new versions and update themselves.

How it stays private

What’s protected — and what isn’t yet.

Vero tells you plainly what its servers can see. We think that honesty is part of privacy.

Vero’s safety number screen: the number is derived with iterated BLAKE2b from the public identity keys of every device

Only your devices can read

  • Messages, photos, videos, files and voice notes
  • Voice and video calls
  • Group messages and community announcements
  • Your backups (passphrase or recovery key)
  • Your private keys — kept in each device’s secure keystore

Vero’s servers can see

  • Who talks to whom, and when
  • Group and community names, descriptions and member lists
  • Profile details like your name and username
  • Channel posts — channels are public broadcasts, not end-to-end encrypted
  • Messages you send to a bot can be read by the bot’s owner

Finding friends by phone number is opt-in; lookups use hashes and are rate-limited.

How a message travels

Scrambled on your phone. Unscrambled on theirs.

In between, Vero’s servers only ever handle ciphertext.

Built on proven pieces

  • libsodium for the cryptography — X25519 key exchange, XChaCha20-Poly1305 encryption and Ed25519 signatures
  • Safety numbers derived with iterated BLAKE2b from every device’s public identity key
  • Row-level security and private realtime channels, so data is only reachable by conversation members
  • One app, everywhere — the same codebase runs on Android and in your browser
