Most of the time, Arka's training data is enough. Sometimes it is not.
For the cases where you need an answer grounded in something newer than the model's cutoff, the + menu now has a Web search toggle.
How web search in Arka works
Flip the toggle on. The little tick mark appears. Send your message. Arka will pull a small number of live web results into the context window, weigh them against what it already knows, and answer.
The toggle stays on until you flip it off. We deliberately did not make it auto-enable on every message; web search is slower, costs more, and is not always better than a clean answer from the model.
When to enable web search
- News, prices, stock movements — anything time-sensitive
- Documentation for tools that have changed recently
- “Does X exist yet?” questions where the answer depends on what shipped last week
- Fact-checking the model on names, dates, and citations
For evergreen knowledge — how things work, why things are the way they are, what a concept means — leave it off. Helix 1 is faster and usually better. Combine web search with Adaptive Thinking when you need both fresh information and deep reasoning over it.
