Hydration and diabetes

How high sugar dehydrates, how dehydration concentrates sugar, and the daily water target tuned to body weight.

Water is the most underrated diabetes medication.

The cycle

High blood sugar → kidneys flush sugar through urine → pulls water with it → dehydration → concentrates remaining sugar → cycle compounds.

How much

Roughly 30-35 ml per kg of body weight. For 70kg: 2.1-2.5 litres a day. Spread across the day, not all at once.

What counts

Plain water, jeera water, infused water, herbal teas, buttermilk, soup. Half counts: tea and coffee. Doesn't count: sweet drinks, juices, sugary lassi.
