When to see a doctor — not later, now

DiaCare is a great friend. It is not a doctor.

DiaCare AI is a great companion. It is not a doctor and will never pretend to be one.

There are situations where a real, in-person doctor visit is non-negotiable. Recognise them.

1. Newly suspected diabetes

If you have classic symptoms — persistent thirst, frequent urination, unexplained weight loss, blurry vision, recurrent infections — book a doctor visit and get a blood test. Don't wait for a worse day.

2. Persistent very high sugar

Multiple readings over 250 mg/dL across days, especially with fatigue or nausea. This is not a "wait and see" situation. Call your doctor today.

3. Recurring lows (hypo)

More than 1-2 hypoglycemic events per week, or any severe hypo (needing help to recover). Medication adjustment is needed.

4. Foot wound that is not healing

Any cut, blister, or sore that doesn't improve in 1-2 days. Even small ones in diabetics can become serious fast. See doctor within 24 hours.

5. Pregnancy planning or pregnancy

Diabetes management during pregnancy is a specialised path. Pre-conception counselling matters too. See a diabetologist and obstetrician.

6. Any of the emergency signs

Call emergency services right now if:

  • Chest pain or pressure
  • Sudden numbness or weakness on one side
  • Confusion, slurred speech, severe lethargy
  • Vomiting with very high sugar (suspect DKA)
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Severe abdominal pain with high sugar
  • Fruity-smelling breath with confusion

DiaCare AI will always tell you to see a doctor in these cases. So will we, in case you needed it twice. Read our full safety guide.
